How to use the year end to grow your blog traffic and subscribers

Year end blogging review post ideas

End of the year, or end of the decade as it is this year, is usually the time when everyone is looking back at what happened in the year but also a time where many are looking forward to what is going to happen in the future.

You can use this period to write some year end linkbait blog posts, grow your blog traffic and increase loyal readership. Year end posts are top list posts with great blog headlines and they are also very simplified posts which makes them very reader friendly and easy to share.

Here are some examples of what you can do on your blog for the end of the year period:

Best posts of the year

Publish a list of top 10 most visited posts on your blog. Or a top 10 list of most commented posts on your blog. Or most retweeted. Or just your favourite posts. Everything is permitted. This type of post gives you a great opportunity to put some great posts back into the reader spotlight.

Lessons I have learned this year

You have the authority, your readers want to know what lessons you have learned so they can improve as well. Posting a “lessons learned” article is a great way to have a summary of tips and advice that you have collected over the past year. It makes a great post that people love to share. See my blogging lessons learned.

Top list of the year

Ranking lists are very viral. Create a list of people that have impacted your industry the most in this year. List blogs that you read the most during the year. Again, everything is permitted and there are so many opportunities for you.

Year in review – best and worst

Write a simple, “review of the year” post. What happened in your industry, what was good, what was bad. Maybe do a quick month by month summary.

Predictions for the new year

Another very viral type of post. Write a post on things you recommend people to look forward to in the next year, explain why you think something will happen.

New Year’s resolutions post

What are you hoping for in the new year? What projects are you working on? What goals did you set yourself, what are you trying to achieve? This is a very personal type of post and it helps you connect with your visitors, which will surely win you more fans and loyal readers.

Year end offers

If you’re selling your own product, you can use the year end to improve sales. Offer a special year-end discount and encourage your visitors not only to buy the product for themselves but also to give the product as a gift to their friends.

As you can see, there are so many options to make the end of the year a great finnish with lots of new visitors, links to your blog and new loyal readers. Now you just have to stop reading and start producing blog posts.

Some great ideas for blog posts coming into the new year, Marko!

It’s kind of strange yet not surprising everyone gets all excited about the new year and making new years resolutions. The trick is to STICK to these resolutions and continue that excitement that generates from creating these resolutions.

These are some great ideas. I’ve actually been bouncing the idea around in my head for a year end blog post. I wanted to highlight some of my best posts and also give thanks for to some key people who have helped my blog or taught me something this year. Great idea for all bloggers to wrap up the year.

The best and worst of the year is the one that im planning to implement. I’m seeing a lot of “best posts” and “lessons I learned” type of posts and I think they are obsolete already.
