On Sunday afternoon I published my Twitter Marketing PDF ebook. I did several different promotional activities for it and the book was downloaded by 1010 people within two days of me uploading it online. In this article I will explain the marketing process behind the launch of TwitterMarketingBook.com.

Direct e-mail to commentators
- On January 22nd I sent an email with the ebook attached to all the people that have commented on my Twitter articles. This was first of all a thank you to all the loyal commentators and second of all a way to build a bit of buzz. Here is the copy of the email that was sent to some 80+ people that commented:
Hi Andy,
You recently commented on my Twitter article series on http://www.howtomakemyblog.com. I have now collected all my Twitter tips and put them in one easy-to-read e-book. As a thank you for commenting I am sending the book attached to this email before I even put it on my site.
If you like it, feel free to share it with people that might find it interesting. Upload it to your site, write a review, tweet it, email it, share it anyway you feel like.
Thank you for your time.
Regards,
Marko Saric

Upload of the new domain / blog
- On 25th January I uploaded http://www.twittermarketingbook.com.
- I did the whole WordPress setup of making pretty SEO permalinks, created ping services list, and submitted a sitemap to Google.
- I included the Tweet-This button on the new blog to encourage people to send tweets about it to their followers. 8 people have used the button and sent the tweet to more than 2000 people.

StumbleUpon promotion
- I sent the URL of the new blog to my StumbleUpon friends and subscribers. I currently have 348 friends and 91 subscribers on StumbleUpon. 20 people decided to review it and minimum of 35 gave thumbs-up at StumbleUpon review page of my Twitter book. This resulted in 300+ visitors from StumbleUpon until now.

Twitter promotion
- I tweeted the link via my own Twitter account 3 times during the 30 hours period. My tweet was retweeted several times to over 10,000 twitterers. This is how my original tweet looked like:
My Twitter Marketing Book (free PDF) – http://www.twittermarketingbook.com
- As usual with Twitter things spread quickly and in many different ways. One tweet was made with a link directly to the PDF file and was spread around to more than 15,000 twitterers. I tried to thank as many twitterers as possible and have to mention MayhemStudios/Calvin Lee who tweeted the link multiple times over the last 2 days.
- As usual with Twitter, it is very hard to track the number of clicks as Google Analytics still doesn’t show all of them and these URL’s were made on sites that do not feature tracking of clicks.
- Interesting thing is that because of the large number of retweets, my link was featured on the retweet stat trends sites like TwittURL’s and TwitURLy. These two sites sent more than 80 visitors total.

Article on HowToMakeMyBlog
- I published an article on HowToMakeMyBlog.com with a link to the book on Sunday night. This brought more than 20 visitors and most importantly couple of high-quality, keyword rich, inbound links from a PR4 site.
Posted one chapter in a forum
- I posted one complete chapter from the book in the DigitalPoint forum. This post got more than 200 views, several comments, 18 clicks to the ebook blog and is also valuable regarding SEO.
Commented on relevant article
- In coincidence Kevin Rose, founder of Digg.com, posted a Twitter article titled 10 Ways To Increase Your Twitter Followers on Monday. Whatever Kevin does gets a lot of attention so I was quick to comment on his article both on TechCrunch and Digg. Digg comment brought 67 visitors and TechCrunch comment brought 41 visitors until now. Check out my comment below:

Tip: Many blogs, including TechCrunch, use threaded comments so if you are not one of the first commentators, you can always reply to one of the top commentators and your response will be shown just below their message.

Conclusion
As you may have noticed, I have been using all the same promotional strategies that I have described and recommended on my blog earlier:
- Used Twitter several times to tweet the message myself
- Had the Tweet-This button on my blog to encourage retweets
- Informed my StumbleUpon friends about the new blog / ebook
- Posted comment early on a relevant article on a very popular site
- Opened a thread in a relevant forum and offered valuable information
It works and I can recommend it to you if you are starting a new blog or if you have a cool new post that you want the world to know about. It will definitely help you grow your blog readership. Feel free to write comments, questions or your own experience, I will definitely read, listen, learn and answer.

Just wanted to say HI. I found your blog a few days ago on Technorati and have been reading it over the past few days.
Hey Marko, What I like about this is the fact that the method could be used for nearly anything.
Congrats on your success with this. I was one of the downloaders, BTW. It is a good read with great info.
Cheers
George
Marko,
It was a great book indeed. I read it and you hit the nail right on the head in many areas. you also did a fantastic job promoting it. I was one of the retweeters on that day.
Congratulations
Very nice book through!
I don’t twitter, but read your ebook just to see what twitter is about. Good info in there especially for someone who has never even visited the twitter site.
Thanks.
Hi…I’ve just downloaded the e-book..Not read it yet…Nice job on promoting your stuff and well as long as it was free it was more easy to get more people download it i guess…
I got one question for you…What plugin do you use to show the additional reading between the paragraphs of the posts?
thanks in advance!!!
Thanks for all the comments, I hope you enjoy the book and that you can use strategies from this article when promoting any of your projects!
@George – No plugin. I just manually add some of my older articles that explain what I did in detail.
Thanks for the mention on your blog post.
People tend to retweet my posts. I tracked, when I retweeted you. Let me just say, A LOT of people retweet your links to your ebook.

Marko you make me so jealous reading your posts, you make it sound so easy. Congrats on your success, I guess I need to start focusing on my twitter account more. With all the success you’ve been having with it, it seems like it could be very useful if implemented well.
Thanks for the great tips and step by step how you did it. Do you mind if I reference these tips in a webinar I do about Social Media? Let me know!
Thanks again!
@Nate Moller – Feel free to do it as long as you mention the source. Thanks.
Nice sharing. That’s a very well done review of good marketing practice.
Cheers.
