We have looked at the different search engine optimization WordPress blog plugins that you shuld install on your blog. Now it is time to look at plugins that will improve the usability of your blog system and make it a more easy, quick and automated process.
Akismet plugin – More popular your blog is, more spam comments you will start to receive. This blog plugin will help you save a lot of time. When a new comment, trackback, or pingback comes to your blog it is submitted to the Akismet web service which runs hundreds of tests on the comment and returns a thumbs up or thumbs down. As simple as that.
WordPress Automatic Upgrade plugin – WordPress is usually fixed and improved very frequently. So you regularly get new versions of WordPress blogging software that you must upgrade to. This plugin makes it very simple to upgrade automatically to the latest blog version.
Broken Link Checker plugin – When you start posting frequently on your blog, you will soon have so many blog posts that it will be hard to manually check them one by one. This plugin will automatically check all your blog posts in your blog archive and all the links in the posts and automatically inform you of any broken links. Broken Link Checker detects both internal and outbound links and notifies you on your WordPress blog Dashboard.
Lighter Menus plugin – As you work on your blog and install more and more WordPress plugins, the whole blogging software can become slow to work with. This plugin remakes the whole menu system in your WordPress blog system and makes it very light and quick to browse through different menus. A great plugin to improve the usability.

Great article; I’ll be passing the URL along to others. Thanks.
Hi – I’ll definitely be trying out lighter menus, sounds pretty good!
I’ve got a plugin of my own to recommend though – it’s called the Wapple Architect Mobile Plugin for WordPress and as you’d expect from the name, it mobilizes your blog.
It has more functionality and features than any other mobile plugin, caters for more devices – from old WML and CHTML phones all the way to the brand new iPhone and Android phones.
In addition, you can style up the mobile version of your blog so that it looks amazing and carries across the look and feel of the website. You certainly don’t lose any of your brand identity with my plugin! Images are also dynamically resized to fit the handset perfectly – essential when you’ve got so many different devices visiting your blog.
If you fancy giving it a go, the homepage can be found here: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wapple-architect/ and it’d be great to hear your feedback on it! Let me know what you think!
