The most important thing when starting a new blog is building the blog content. You always hear the phrase “Content Is King” and it certainly is true when talking about blogging. Without unique and useful content your blog site will not be worth visiting. On the other hand, without great and keyword-rich content the search engines will not find, index nor rank your blog site very highly. So building unique and useful blog content is of major importance for your blog to start growing, get ranked in search engines and get loyal readership.
When your blog is new, it is very important to build new keyword rich, useful and unique content daily. My advice is to write one new blog post per day, at minimum, for first couple of weeks of your new blog. The more blog content and blog posts you have, the easier for search engines will be to find and crawl your blog site and the more interesting it will be for your visitors to bookmark your blog, subscribe to your RSS news feed and recommend your blog to their friends.
I will recommend you to start your blog by writing several blog articles in a tutorial-style posts that aim to teach your audience about your topic. Those articles are generally longer, full of keywords and information and have a lot of practical tips and advice. Typical tutorial-style article is the “how to” article and the good thing about the “how to” blog post is that this style of article has a long term appeal, it stays current as it is not news or time dependent and offers real value to your blog visitors.
So start writing your blog content today. Do a brainstorm of “how-to” tutorial topics that you can write about and start writing. I would suggest that you aim to write about 10 unique, useful and keyword rich articles, of some 300 words each, in the first week of your blog being online.

“How To” topics are the most viewed and discussed about. The writer has to have command on the topic that he is writing. Only then the blog will gain readership.
One of the reason why women’s mag like Cosmo sells is because it has a lot of “How to” and problem sections.
