We all have dreams, we all have a passion for something. But not many of us do anything towards achieving those dreams.
This is a 6-step plan that shows how those who go for it, spread their ideas to many people and how they reach their goals and dreams.
Find what makes you come alive
- You must love it, you must have a joy for it
- You must care about what you are doing
- It is your passion that makes you worth following
Share what you’ve learned with the world
- Start adding value
- Share your insights, knowledge and experience
- Don’t censor yourself, write from your heart
- Blogs are simple, cheap and easy way to do it
Be personal, set yourself apart
- Don’t be afraid to show your personality, readers should never wonder if there is a person behind the blog
- Always incorporate your own thoughts and analysis. Personal opinion counts and it is the person behind the blog that makes the blog stand out
- You don’t have to be the best in the world. You just need to express your unique point of view
Don’t be afraid of failure
- You love what you do, so who cares what others think
- Don’t give up easily if you feel like no one is reading, it takes time
- Blogging is a marathon, not a sprint
Help people, build fans one by one
- Connect with people that are looking for your knowledge and experience. Help a few people at a time, build your subscribers one by one
- Twitter marketing is perfect for this. Do a search on a keyword related to what you do and start helping people
Tipping point: you have so many fans that they help spread the word and the viral effect starts happening
- As long as you make your content easy to share, the more people that like what you do the more people they will spread your idea to and increase your blog traffic
- People identify with style and become members of your community. Once you have built a community you can have a powerful influence
Inspirational video
See this guy, he just does what he likes, he doesn’t care about anything else. Slowly his ideas spread, he starts getting followers one by one and suddenly there is the tipping point: a viral effect where everyone wants to join the party and suddenly the guy that doesn’t know how to dance is a major authority and the leader of the crowd.
You can do it as well, you just need to be hungry for it and you just need to stop reading and start doing something about it!

What a great video! I completely understand what you mean about being passionate about what you do and how that can be infectious. That’s how I started my blog and now things are happening for me now that I could never have imagined!
Thanks for another great post; I always enjoy your work.
P.S. How did you find a video so well suited to your blog post?
@MJ Doyle . It all started with the video. Got the link yesterday, liked it so much, I thought it exactly showed what I believe in with blogging as well, so I had to write a post about it. I have already mentioned these strategies before but it is good to have them in one post now.
@Harrison Schmidt – Definitely. It needs a lot of hard work though until you reach that point. And most people and most bloggers quit before they reach that point.
Good post Marco. Sounds simple that really all it takes. Create something remarkable that people want and you will be successful (with a bit of marketing until the viral effect happens).
That was a cool video and very cool how you showed a example what you are talking about. Greg Ellison
I love posts like this because they give me hope. I don’t expect my blog will go the “viral” or Mashable endorsement route… since it’s not about blogging or making money. So I think my best hope (perhaps my only hope) is to cultivate relationships, one reader at a time. It takes a little longer, but is well worth the effort. Every movement starts with one person, right?
Marko,
Great post and genius video, many thanks. Finding the cue before you write the blog is a great idea and, in my mind, could work in much the same way with blog headings. Think of a knockout title for your blog piece first and then write the content based on that. Again, thanks.
Marcus
Marko,
A healthy balance of straight up usefulness and personal expression which should naturally set you apart, is going in the right direction. That video is unreal! Haha, I’ll have to share it at the site.

Great information here Marko! Standing out of the crowd and be different are what make you interesting to readers. Too many people try to say stuff that are already said with no originality. Usually, it is not what you write, but HOW you write will capture the audience.
Great Article. I love the simplicity yet its thoroughness. I will simpley have to bookmark this blog for later viewing.
BTW, saw that video the other day when someone tweeted it. Great example indeed.

Good points Marco! Unfortunately, your 6 points won’t be enough for a blog to go viral. The ideas themselves must be worth spreading for them to take on a viral nature.
They are those that add so much value to people that they go “Wow I must share this with my friends!” But your 6 points does help point us in the right direction.
wow, that video started out kind of strange but turned into something really cool. I get your point, however, I don't think it was the wises decision to tell your readers to “stop reading and start acting.” O' well, you keep producing good stuff so i'm sure it won't affect you much.
Keep writing!!
hehehe true, you can see it that way. I try to help anyone as best as I know so if I say read less, produce more I really think that will benefit and improve any blogger, and that is what my tips are about… to improve other people's blogs.
I really like your website and appreciate all the great knowledge and tips that you share!
Awesome article.
Great video. It really puts the whole thought together.
I always like the structure of your articles. Straight to the point and simple, but effective design.
Keep ‘em coming !
