Beyond all the blogging rage

Beyond celebrity bloggers

Beyond Blogging, new ebook on blogging, is all the rage in the “blogs about blogging” world last few days. Lots of bloggers have written posts about it, lots of people have bought it, many love it, some complain about the price tag.

All in all a lot of discussion which brings a lot of attention to the book. The authors must be very happy as attention is always good for the book sales.

“Stop dreaming and start blogging” inspiration

I’ve now had a chance to take a look at Beyond Blogging. The book features profiles of some of the biggest bloggers, where you can get to know their life stories, how they started blogging and how they blog.

Learning about successful bloggers and their stories not only motivates you to stop dreaming and start blogging, but it also gives you inspiration and ideas. I love reading case studies of successful people. I have published some myself, see my profiles of Pete Cashmore, Gary Vaynerchuk and Perez Hilton.

15 celebrity blogger profiles

15 blogger profiles are featured in Beyond Blogging. It is 203 pages long, edited by Nathan Hangen and Mike Cliffe Jones. This is the full list of bloggers profiled:

  • Gary Vaynerchuk
  • Chris Guillebeau
  • Chris Garrett
  • Chris Brogan
  • Penelope Trunk
  • David Risley
  • John Chow
  • Pete Cashmore
  • Shama Kabani
  • Michael Dunlop
  • Jonathan Fields
  • Darren Rowse
  • iJustine
  • Steve Pavlina
  • Brian Clark

Last 30 pages of the ebook is a section called “The six figure blogging blueprint” which basically is a sum-up of important points from the blogger profiles.

    Hi Marko!

This ebook will definitely be a great ebook for intermediate to advanceh bloggers. It is because by just having the knowledge but fail to make ull use of those knowledge will totally a waste for bloggers.

With this ebook, it will definitely help others in knowing right path and ways of getting motivation. It will then, enhance our blogging skills and how we interact with our readers.

By the way Marko, it will definitely be handy for us, your readers if you can link all those celebrities bloggers to their own sites as from there, we can roughly who are they and how they are regarded as celebrities bloggers. It is because not everybody know all of them.

    Cheers!

Well this book is going to be a super success, I’ve read this on more than 8 high traffic blogs. I’m not the one looking for motivational stories, but still I think its a good investment. I wonder why Marko wasn’t featured in it, he is our motivational story teller. Maybe you’ll be there on the second edition, who knows even I maybe there. HaHa

    Regards

It’s about time that Michael Dunlop also gets the recognition, with incomediary.com he produces sterling content. Though I’m getting worried that the same old faces are being used all the time to sell ebooks and training courses. We already know about Darren Rowse, David Risley, John Chow, Brian Clark, Pete Cashmore etc. Maybe next time around we can do with a new set of influential bloggers. Alex Fraiser, Tyler Cruz comes to mind and more others blogging in niche markets outside the MMO and performing very well.

True… I guess they choose the biggest names because of their appeal and their brand. It sells more books and gets more attention…

Marko, appreciate the quick review here. I have purchased the e-book and started reading. as soon as I heard about it, I knew I had to get it. A lot of the background stuff on these rockstars is known to me but it’s the point of ingraining this information into my head.

I am 100% excited to see the people that emerge this year 2010 – Will we see some new names come out? I totally see it. I am keeping my eyes open to see if I can get some interviews. I’ll need to do a review of the book myself too…see what I get out of it.

    Hi Marko,
I am also a practical person (as is my blog) and I like the step-by-step advice that you mention. I like inspirational stories but I also want practical advice to get the job done. I was thinking of purchasing BeyondBlogging but I think you just convinced me that it is not a practical guide to blogging. Thanks for your honesty.

    Best,
    Bob

    Bob,

I’m not sure if Marko read it, but there’s also a 5 step blueprint in the back of the book that provides action steps based on the 15 case studies. There’s also a sample chapter on the book site for anyone that would like to take a look.

    Nathan,
Thanks for that information. The 5 step blueprint is along the lines of what I am looking for. I will certainly take a look at the sample chapter. I was fortunate to have interviewed Jonathan Fields on my blog. He is certainly a class act. Let me take a look at the sample chapter and make my decision thereafter. Thanks for responding. I really appreciate it.

    Best,
    Bob

    Thanks Nathan,
I appreciate the clarification. By the way, I enjoyed Chris Garrett’s guest post on your blog about guest posting. I am a HUGE proponent of guest posting. I actually have a guest post on Kevin Muldoon’s BloggingTips blog set to publish this Tuesday related to guess what? Guest posting. And I truly appreciate your comment on my blog.

    Best,
    Bob

Nathan is doing a great job connecting with the audience and building relationships, even here in the comment section of this post. Something everyone can learn from, especially people that are producing and selling their own products.
